When you buy a Maine cabin in the woods, it usually has a story to go with it and this cabin is no exception. The owner, who has a passion for history, chose to create a faithful reproduction of a John Alden House in 'Plimoth Plantation', a National Historic site, in Plymouth, MA. Upon entering, the post & beam construction is evident but what you must know is the beams are original hand-hewn beams and barn boards from two local historic barns built in the early 20th century. You'll find custom kitchen & bath cabinets created from those same weathered barn boards. The cabin is held by large granite boulders along the perimeter and under the floors. Between the boulders along the outside walls is New England dry stack stone. This cabin has insulation in the walls, ceiling & floor of 2' rigid foam. This delightful 1 bedroom w/ loft cabin has tongue and groove walls & ceiling on the inside, a wood stove to keep you warm on dreary cold days and an enclosed screen porch to enjoy the outside even when the bugs are out. Don't worry, there is power, a well & a septic too! Are you a flower lover? The elusive lady slipper flowers are everywhere! The perfect summer camp, hunting cabin or even a rustic winter get-a-way. The choice is yours. Don't let this special property pass you by!
