March in Midcoast Maine: Pies on Parade, Maple Syrup & Restaurant Week

As winter’s grip begins to loosen, March in Midcoast Maine invites us to savor the changing season with time-honored traditions, local flavors, and festive gatherings. From the sweetness of maple syrup to indulgent meals during Maine Restaurant Week, this month is packed with reasons to embrace the season and experience all that Midcoast Maine has to offer.

Maine Restaurant Week: Savor the Flavors of Maine
Maine Restaurant Week runs from March 1st to 12th, 2025 and is your chance to explore some of the best food Midcoast Maine has to offer—whether you’re craving fresh lobster, a comforting bowl of chowder, or something entirely new. Participating restaurants feature special prix fixe menus, giving you the perfect excuse to indulge in seasonal flavors.

It’s a great opportunity to discover new favorites in Camden, Rockland, and beyond, or to revisit beloved local spots. With the event showcasing the talent and creativity of Maine’s chefs, you’re sure to find a dish (or three) worth savoring.

Pies on Parade Returns: A Celebration of Community and Flavor
No March foodie lineup in Midcoast Maine would be complete without Pies on Parade, Rockland’s beloved annual event that brings together sweet and savory pies for a great cause. This cherished tradition not only satisfies pie lovers but also provides vital support for AIO Food and Energy Assistance, which serves families across Knox County.

After a brief hiatus, Pies on Parade has returned stronger than ever, rekindling a cherished tradition that blends community spirit with culinary creativity. Over the course of the weekend, attendees can sample an incredible variety of pies, from classic Maine blueberry to inventive savory creations, all while exploring the welcoming streets of downtown Rockland.

More than just a feast, Pies on Parade is about coming together-- sharing food supporting neighbors, and celebrating one of Maine's most heartwarming traditions.

Maine Maple Sunday: A Sweet Taste of Spring
There’s no better way to welcome spring than by celebrating Maine Maple Sunday Weekend, a local favorite that highlights the magic of maple syrup.
On March 23rd and 24th, 2025, sugarhouses across Midcoast Maine will open their doors, inviting you to experience the syrup-making process firsthand.

It’s more than just watching sap turn into syrup—it’s about embracing a true Maine tradition. Expect to sample fresh syrup, enjoy a stack of pancakes drizzled with the finest maple sweetness, and support local sugarhouses as they share their craft. There’s nothing quite like that first taste of warm, fresh syrup to remind you that spring is just around the corner.

March in Midcoast Maine is all about sweet flavors, good food, and celebrating with the community. Whether you’re making memories at Maine Maple Sunday, savoring a special meal during Maine Restaurant Week, or enjoying a slice (or two) at Pies on Parade, there’s always something to look forward to.
