Meet Karen: A Heart for Maine, Its Homes, and Its People
We’re thrilled to introduce Karen, the newest member of our Dwelling in Maine team—though in many ways, she has been deeply rooted in the spirit of Maine long before stepping into real estate.
Karen has spent a lifetime appreciating the many sides of this state, from its working harbors and sailboats bobbing in quiet coves to the inland farms, forests, and seasonal markets that shape the rhythm of everyday life. Her real estate career naturally carries her across these varied landscapes, connecting clients with the homes and communities that make Maine such a special place to live.
Some of Karen’s earliest memories are set on a Maine island, where she spent summer days exploring an old boathouse by the water. That early love for coastal life—and for the stories held within old buildings—has never left her. Today, she and her partner John are restoring a historic home in Searsport, a project that blends her passion for design, preservation, and honoring the past.
Though Karen has an appreciation for all types of homes, she has a particular affection for antique properties. She has guided many clients through the unique joys and challenges of owning older homes, from their craftsmanship to their quirks. When working with buyers, she brings genuine excitement and care to each search, treating their journey as if it were her own. Helping an old Maine house get its second chance is one of her greatest joys—and helping clients of all budgets and styles find a place that feels right is the heart of her work.
Karen’s impact doesn’t end at the closing table. She values community deeply, and many of her past clients have become bright parts of their towns—opening shops, creating art, teaching, and contributing in meaningful ways. She proudly continues to support and cheer for them long after the sale is done.
Beyond real estate, Karen is a lifelong treasure hunter and maker. She loves hunting for Maine antiques and hand-sews a line of canvas pillows under the name Maine House Workshop, currently available at The Red Barn Marketplace in Lincolnville. Family remains central in her life, too—her children and three young grandchildren live in New Hampshire, but they make frequent trips “over the river” to spend as much time together as possible.
We’re delighted to have Karen bring her passion, experience, and deep appreciation for Maine’s history and communities to the Dwelling in Maine team. Her love for this state—and the people who call it home—shines in everything she does.
